Our History
Sportsman’s Arms Hotel’s history began in 1933; then comprising of quaint English cottages for hire at 250 shillings per month.
Sportsman’s Arms Hotel was started by a mother-daughter duo; Mrs. Gertrude Mary Hill-Williams (Mrs. Hilly-Billy) and Kathleen A. Hill-Williams (Tuppence) in 1933.
In 1961, ownership of the hotel transitioned to the dynamic couple Shamsu Din and his wife Malek Din, who embraced Sportsman’s Arms Hotel as their own. Renowned for their warmth and the camaraderie they fostered with everyone.
The hotel has evolved into an iconic landmark in Nanyuki, serving as a vibrant hub of culture and offering ideal accommodations for family getaways, romantic escapes, or corporate travel alike.
